Preparing for Sophomore Year

SUMMER
- Check ccrp.episd.org and review the classes you have taken and your grades. Do you have any classes that you need to take again? Are you registered for them?
- Set goals for your high school career: do you want to graduate in the Top Ten/Top 10 Percent/Top 20 Percent?
- Find a place to volunteer this summer. Community service hours are a plus for students.
- Plan to attend registration on your day and pick up your schedule!
- Buy a yearbook at registration
- Consider taking a leadership position in at least one extracurricular organization.
- Start off with good attendance and clear every absence as soon as possible!
Fall Semester
- Plan weekly study time and keep your grades up.
- Sign up for Credit by Exams with your counselor.
- Do your best on the PSAT exam. This is a great way to see where your writing, reading and math skill are at this time.
- Meet with your counselor to review your classes and credits.
- Attend the CCTE field trip. This is a great opportunity to learn about programs you may be interested in.
- Turn in your endorsement form to your counselor. This could help insure that you can join a program you are interested in.
- Find out about the Dual Credit Program at your school. Starting Junior year, you could take classes to earn college credit.
- Consider taking the AP exam for the language you are studying in high school.
- Register and pay for your AP Exams.
- Review essays written in your English Class.
